So this is what pollen looks like close up! ...I think it's pretty. 
I tried to get another photo without the clutter in the way, but working at this magnification with the tools I have, lets just say I'm patient, but not that patient... Issues with DOF, focusing, light, camera shake... I don't think I'll be doing extreme macro all that often, as you can probably tell, the lens really isn't up to it... But I'm very pleased with the results for only £10 ($15).
This image is actually a crop from the final image, I'd guess the maginification was about 6x? If you want to work it out, it was shot with a reversed 50mm lens on a 300mm 1:2 Macro lens with 64mm of extention tubes. Ouch!

Oh my. You really must be patient. I can't even work with a 18 mm lens reversed for a long time because those issues you mentioned piss me off too much after a while. But the magnification you got here is incredible, I'm still in awe.
